Responsibility without Power
Tim Luckhurst is Professor Journalism at the University of Kent and a former editor of The Scotsman. A graduate in history of Robinson College, Cambridge, he began his career as a journalist on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme. He covered the Romanian revolution and the first Gulf war for BBC Radio, and reported on the liberation of Kosovo and the fall of Slobodan Milosevic for The Scotsman. He was the BBC’s Washington producer in the first year of the Clinton presidency and returned to the UK as a senior member of the team that designed and launched BBC Radio 5 Live. Between 1995 and 1997 he was editor of news programmes at BBC Scotland. He is a frequent commentator on media policy and politics for radio, television and newspapers. He has won two Sony Radio Academy Awards for news broadcasting.
