Introduction
Whilst many authors are confident about the drafting and formatting process and manage this themselves, we appreciate that some people prefer to use professional services. There are a range of optional services that arima can offer to assist authors complete their manuscripts. |
Proof-reading
You should normally have had your manuscript proof-read
before making your submission to arima. However, for authors
who require a professional service, arima can arrange
for your work to be checked by a professional, for spelling,
punctuation and typesetting errors.
Guide Cost: £8 per 1000 words

Image scanning
If you require images to be scanned for inclusion in your book, arima can offer this service for photographs, line diagrams and pictures etc.
Cost: £7.50 per image

Typing service
For handwritten manuscripts, the OCR process is normally
not suitable. In these cases the manuscript will need
to be typed into a word-processor. If you require this
service, arima can produce your work in an appropriate,
digital format.
Guide Cost: £5 per 500 words

based on the manuscript)

Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
For authors that do not have a digital (computer) file of their manuscript (eg where it has been typed on a manual typewriter) then the pages will need to be individually scanned and run through an OCR program. The OCR process will then create a digital file from the scanned text.
Whilst, OCR technology is becoming very advanced the process is currently about 98% accurate. The digital version of the manuscript will therefore need to be subjected to a further detailed proof-read.
Cost: approx £0.80 per A4 page
